Officers 2014-2015
Co-President: Wassim Hmeidan
Hello my name is Wassim Hmeidan. I am a third year NPB major. I come from Agoura Hills, CA, a small city by Los Angeles. I have been a Southern California kid my whole life, up until three years ago. I joined Operation Smile Winter Quarter of my freshman year because I wanted to learn more about cleft palates, something my brother was unfortunately born with. Unlike my brother who got immediate care, many kids in third world countries have to learn to live with this problem. I want to help those kids and give them a chance to to truly be a kid and show off their smile. As always, Keep Smiling My Friends.

Historian/ Webmaster: Kevin Cervantes
Hello everyone! My name is Kevin Cervantes, I am a 3rd year Biological Sciences Major, and I am your Historian and Webmaster for the 2014-2015 year! I first heard of heard of Operation Smile from my dentist. He would always tell me stories, including the time when he went to China to volunteer for the Operation Smile organization. For me, what really sets Operation Smile apart is its sense of belonging. I always feel a sense of connection, positivity, and friendship. Operation Smile truly makes a positive difference in many people’s lives, and I am proud to be there to help.

Treasurer: Alexander Tinoco
Hello! I’m Alex and I’m from Gilroy, CA (Garlic Capital of the World, supposedly). I’m also a Managerial Economics major. One of the reasons why I love Operation Smile is because of the community atmosphere it creates! I love how this whole organization is not only dedicated to fundraising but also how it attempts to create a family among ourselves and thus forming our own community. I joined Operation Smile so that I can help serve a great cause by helping children and families in third world countries in need. Fun Fact: I am a Cleveland Browns fan! I haven’t seen many Browns fans in California so if there’s anybody who also shares the same love as I do then come to talk to me (or just talk to me even if you’re not a football fan)!

Secretary: Maria Arellano
Hello my name is Maria Arellano. I am a second year International Relations and Spanish major. I come from Tulelake, CA, a small town in the California and Oregon border. I joined Operation Smile Fall Quarter of my freshman year because I wanted to get involved in a club where community service wasn’t the only thing offered but also other activities that would make the members have fun and enjoy the time around each other. My favorite thing about operation smile is to interact with the members and to make memories that will last a lifetime. I want to be able to make a difference in another persons life because it helps me become a better person.

Publicity: Sokena Zaidi
Hola Amigos! I’m Sokana Zaidi, I am a third year Pharmaceutical Chemistry Major, from San Jose, CA, and the Publicity and Fundraising Officer for Operation Smile. I joined OS after my good friend Wassim forced me to come to a meeting, and I totally fell in love with the energy of our members!!! I love how close we’ve all become as a club and I enjoy how we’re not just a club that focuses on money but on building a connection amongst ourselves and with whoever we work with.
